The Third Path

Your art career at your pace

Two paths get talked about for artists: keep hustling, or step away.

The Third Path is the one nobody has modeled — staying in the work at a pace that fits the life you’re actually in.

This is a group figuring it out together. No curriculum. A room of established artists at the same stage, meeting monthly, with structure enough to hold the work and looseness enough to let it be shaped by what members bring.

Who it's for

This is for you if …

You still want to make the work, but you’re tired of running the machine attached to it.

You want to connect with peers who get this. Not artists still climbing. You don’t want to be distracted by competition or the latest Instagram trend.

You might be philosophically done with the marketing engine. Perhaps you’re aging, or dealing with health, or caregiving, or navigating a life shift that has changed what’s possible.

If you’re reaching for what’s next, The Next Opening is the group for you.

How it works

You aren’t looking for lessons or more weekly meetings. The Third Path is loose by design.

About me

I’ve helped thousands of artists build intentional businesses over more than two decades. Now I’m helping them figure out what it looks like at a different pace.

I’m the host of The Art Biz podcast, author of I’d Rather Be in the Studio, and founder of Art Biz Success. Before launching my consulting practice in 2002, I spent a decade as a curator and educator in art museums, an experience that still shapes how I see artists and their work—and that matters especially for this group. Museums understand that a body of work has value independent of whether the artist is currently pushing it into the market.
