After last week’s Art Marketing Action newsletter about being media savvy, Hap Hagood (Clover, VA) wrote:
While I’ve never submitted anything to a state or national newspaper, whenever I submit articles to both local newspapers I always write the entire article in an email & both print my article in its entirety. If the article is about a piece of my sculpture that has received an honor, I attach a photo of the sculpture to the email & they always use my photo. In fact I was told by one of the editors that she preferred my writing the entire article & to attach a photo.
Thanks, Hap! It’s always best to know what the recipient prefers.

After seeing enough bad press releases, I wrote a blog post in 2003 on “How to prepare and submit press releases.” The same information applies to all newspapers from the big metros to the local weeklies.
