HAPY NEW YEAR!
Today’s Art Marketing Action is to Dream Big. Dream big when you’re setting your goals and life plan. Don’t let anyone tell you you can’t do something–especially don’t listen to those who tell you you can’t be an artist.
While dreaming is important, it’s your goals and actions that will move you forward. You need both. My favorite Japanese proverb is:
Vision without action is a daydream. Action without vision is a nightmare.
Allowing yourself to dream creates a vision of your future. And a vision means you really start seeing it as part of your reality. Otherwise, it remains a dream. Start with that vision and then figure out what you’re going to do this year to get you closer to that vision. Then break it down even further. You might want to look at it in this way:
1st step – Your dream
2nd step – Your vision
3rd step – Your annual goals
4th step – Your monthly goals
5th step – Your weekly and daily actions

How to Tap Into Daily Actions to Accomplish Your Goals in the New Year

Alyson, I am taking your holiday advice and addressing my 2007 vision and gaols. One of my dreams is to correspond with other Mediterraneanphiles, especially those from Italy, and to have my works known there. As a result of action toward this last goal, I advertised in an international magazine and received a response asking me from the UK if I was interested in doing a watercolor painting school outside of Rome, at a castle located on the Tuscan border! Needless to say, I was flabbergasted and am continuing to correspond with them to see if a plan can be worked out. I moved my blog with Clint’s help to my website and am still awaiting comments, but know that “they”are also out there. At the end of my first year as an emerging artist, I am preparing to have my second solo exhibition in my local area and an opening reception this month. Thanks so much for the newsletters and blog. It’s given me confidence that my goals are achievable. Will look forward to hearing you at the telesummit in a few weeks! Kandy Cross, Va. Beach, Va.
