Books and movies

Four new books on my shelf that I can’t wait to dive into. Some of them may be of interest to you:

The New Rules of Marketing & PR by David Meerman Scott
(see Scott’s blog on which he basically blogged his entire book)

What No One Ever Tells You About Blogging and Podcasting by Ted Demopoulos

Creatively Self-Employed by Kristen Fischer (recommended by Cynthia Morris)

The Art World Dream by Eric Rudd

In the meantime, two DVDs are waiting for me to watch:

New York Stories (Nick Nolte as artist)

Sketches of Frank Gehry

An all-day publishing workshop tomorrow means a very busy weekend.

  1. Ted Demopoulos, Blogging for Business

Alyson, Nice to see my book on your list! And I can highly recommend David Meerman Scott’s “The New Rules of Marketing and PR.” A somewhat similar book on my reading list is Paul Gillin’s “The New Influencers” If interested, I’m glad to send you a copy of my latest “booklet”, “Secrets of Successful Blogging” — just email me your address. Going to Amazon now to look at “Creatively Self-Employed”

  2. One of my friends recently suggested Life, Paint, and Passion by Cassou and Cubley. I started it yesterday. I’ll take the summer to slowly read it, and, if my initial instincts are right, I’ll be re-reading it for years.

  3. A really good art movie I just watched is “Who the @#$% is Jackson Pollock?” – it gives an interesting look into the art world as a retired truck driver in Kansas tries to find out if her $5 thrift shop find is a genuine Pollock. Interesting how some experts refuse to accept it because it doesn’t have the ‘soul’ of a Pollock, even though it does have his fingerprints!
